Don’t Forget to Prepare for Christ While Preparing for Christmas

As we light the second candle on the evergreen wreath this week, there is no denying that Christmas is around the corner. As we attend parties, shop for gifts, make travel arrangements, and plan dinners, it is easy for us to miss Christ as we prepare for Christmas. Take a moment to consider how you are going to focus on Jesus in the midst of Holiday bustle. Perhaps every time you hear a bell, you can say they prayer to yourself “Come, Lord Jesus.” Maybe we can each resolve to pray or reflect fort at least five minutes before we leave the house each day to give our day to the Lord. Another thought would be that each time I spend ten dollars, I can set aside one to share with those in need of mercy. Maybe as we trim our trees and decorate our houses, we can, as a family say a prayer together asking the Lord to prepare our hearts for Baby Jesus. It would be a shame for the day we celebrate Jesus’ birth to arrive and I have done nothing to welcome him because I was too busy getting ready for Christmas. Find what works for you and your family and welcome Jesus into your heart anew this Christmas! Come, Lord Jesus!
